Early sound classic about sin and salvation. Set on the South Seas island of Pago Pago, the film centers around a group of steamer passengers who are stranded on the island when there is aa epedimic on-board their ship. The group includes missionary Alfred Davidson (Walter Huston) and Miss Sadie Thompson (Joan Crawford), a prostitute. Davidson makes it his mission to save Sadie's soul and give up her wonton ways. In the end, he succeeds,  butat the cost of his own soul, as he  gives in to his own temptations.  Moving remake of the silent screen classsic, SADIE THOMPSON (1928) starring Gloria Swanson and Lionel Barrymore.
