Filmdom's greatest horror legend, Bela Lugosi, stars as the darkly-entrancing, Legendre, ruler of a legion of zombies on a sugar plantation in Haiti, land of the living dead. The first horror film about voodoo, WHITE ZOMBIE was inspired by the novel, THE MAGIC ISLAND, and became the model for all zombie films to come thereafter.  Independently-produced by brothers Victor and Edward Halperin, WHITE ZOMBIE used the sets from DRACULA, FRANKENSTEIN and KING KONG.  It also featured the Special Effects Make-Up work of Universal's famed monster maker, Jack Pierce (FRANKENSTEIN, THE MUMMY, THE WOLF MAN).
